The University of Hamburg team
The TIMSS 2027 team in Germany is led by Professor Mirjam Steffensky and Professor Knut Schwippert of the University of Hamburg. The team is also supported by IEA Hamburg, which coordinates the field test and main survey and processes the data. Germany’s participation in TIMSS is jointly funded by the federal and regional ministries of education.
Board of experts
A broad-based board of experts oversees the work of conducting the study and reporting on it. The board comprises established researchers from the fields of education studies, mathematics education, science education in elementary schools and comparative international studies of educational achievement.
National and international partners
The TIMSS Germany team works closely with international partners such as the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center (ISC) at Boston College and the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement
(IEA). The international coordination of TIMSS is managed by the ISC on behalf of the IEA.
